When Is It OK to Let Go?

I understand respecting an old person's wishes much better now. Dad didn't want to be on life support, even when I wanted him to get better, it wasn't happening. If Mom cannot get her mobility back, she doesn't want to be confined to a bed or chair. There is no point when you are comfortable with mortality of a loved one. Mom still has a good chance of returning to her normal self.

Blood clots and brain bleeds are not a good combination. She can't take blood thinners to break up her blood clots because they could cause her another stroke. Her left leg is barely respondent and her left arm is still flaccid. She can't get up and go to the bathroom without help. She's miserable and has told Becky that she would rather die. She actually asked Becky to shoot her.

Mother is modest and she isn't happy about me having to help her to the comode. I've had to help her stand while she's being bathed too. Neither of us wanted it to get like this but we're trying to get past it. I don't know if she's going to keep trying to get better. She's a tough old gal but I don't know when it's time to give up. I respect her and don't want her to suffer needlessly but I don't want her to give up when she might live a normal life again either.

Whatever Mom wants is more important to me than morality of anyone else. I love my mother and truly wish she was in good health. I don't know what's going to happen but I swear I'm going to respect anything my mother decides.
